To the person who e-mailed me this evening from ******@mindspring.com about the availability of a puppy, if by chance you're follow the blog and happen to see this post, I wanted to let you know I did in fact send a prompt reply to your e-mail but even more promptly received this e-mail in return.

Should you choose to discuss a pup my phone number is listed in the right upper hand corner. For those of you waiting on a pup... Skye's loosing her beautiful girlish figure. -The downside of pregnancy. Otherwise she's doing great with about two and a half weeks to go! Will try and snap a decent photo of her tomorrow. Found a video for homemade puppy sweaters I thought I'd pass along. And yes, even in Florida sweaters come in handy in the winter for Dobermans. Especially puppies. These are easy to put together or cut to fit and can likely be made from things you might already have laying around the house. Or can easily be picked up @ your local thrift store. Dress 'em up or dress 'em down!
4 Ways To Recycle Clothing Into Dog Sweaters Check it out... Simone created a Facebook group specific for the litter and would like to invite all people waiting on a pup to become members. It's a closed group so will remain small. My last litter has it's own Facebook page developed by Adelle, one of the puppy parents, in order to keep in touch with her pups litter-mates and their humans. It has actually been a fairly useful group as they share stories of their pups' antics, and what things work from toys to corrections. They also offer support to one another regarding ear care, potty training and crate training. Trials, progress and hope! Some useful tips that I wouldn't have thought of have been shared but most of all they share lots of photos of their pups maturing which I personally love. I'm a member of both groups and while I offer breeder support for my pups for life, I'm also available in the group format and welcome any questions directed my way. Please join us for some fun and mild drama created by none other than the pups themselves. If you're a current Facebook user, hovering over the following link, should take you right to the page. Your page!
Fall 2017: Skye's Pups! Note: I've also provided the FB link directly to the right of this post that will stay in position so it's easy to find as days turn to weeks and weeks into months! Day forty is here and as with previous dogs and previous pregnancies I can finally confirm without doubt pups are on the way. How many and of what sex of course is not known and won't be known until they arrive. I'm hoping for a large litter with an abundance of boys so all on the wait list can begin preparations for a new addition to their families! At this point in time though my concern lies with Skye, -that she has an uneventful pregnancy followed by an easy delivery. She's doing great! Still full of spunk and energy but I've noticed just in the past couple days she's beginning to move a little slower and sleep a little more. She's got a ravenous appetite too. Never lost it which I thought somewhat unusual. My experience of past coincides with what I've read that dogs, like people, frequently go through a phase of morning sickness and their appetite takes a nose dive. Her lack of loss of appetite and no obvious change in temperament or personality combined with the commotion around the time of heat had me seriously doubting a pregnancy. I think you will all be pleased with my choice of mate for her. Dark Lynk is a beautiful dog with a great temperament. At age 7 1/2 he's successfully sired many litters and is still going strong. He's my girl Majestic's dad and I've always admired him and adore her. Meet Charismatic's Dark LynkSo, I'm sure everyone is waiting in suspense for some news. Unfortunately I've been living in fear that I was faced with an unsuccessful mating and eventually the need to make some disappointing phone calls. That possibility still exists. The height of Skye's heat cycle coincided basically to the day to which Hurricane Irma impacted our area. I mentioned I might have to pull her early and basically that's what ended up happening. As it turned out the people caring for her and responsible for the mating along with another family from Venice ended up evacuating -animals and all to my place here in Hawthorne. We had a full house for sure! With the hurricane forecast to come up along the west coast at our south and from there up the center of the state none of us felt particularly safe. It was agreed a two story block home, even though surrounded by trees, was probably the safest bet as long as we stayed on the main floor during the brunt of the storm. The storm came and went and as quick as they arrived, my guests along with Skye departed the day after the storm. In conversation, I was told Skye and Lynk had been playful together and in general seemed to be a good match. Some mating behavior observed but no actual mating occurring. While readying horses for evacuation however, I was told there was a period of time the day before the storm that the dogs disappeared behind the RV shed and did not come forth to calling. Generally speaking Skye will come running when called and apparently Lynk will too. Things that make you go hmm....
The day following the storm, here at home, we attempted a witnessed breeding but Skye was having no part of it. That behavior, with some dogs, is common once bred. We quickly separated them but thought it worth a shot to give them another chance in the environment they'd grown used to once things returned to a degree of normalcy. But it was a no go. I picked Skye up with a fair degree of uncertainty regarding the outcome of her days away from me. Long story short we were left with a big fat uncomfortable "maybe". Yesterday, for the first time, as Skye stretched out on the floor along side me, after all the worry and wonder, I thought to myself, hmmm.... maybe you're pregnant after all. While there really isn't any obvious belly development yet I'm seeing some other signs that lead me to finally believe we may indeed have pups on the way. I generally don't call it until day 40 when I see that belly but since it's close and I started out with great doubt I'm really excited to pass on that we at least have signs of possibility. Updates, including the addition of some photos and documents of my choice of sire for Skye will follow once I'm fully comfortable announcing a confirmed pregnancy. Keep those fingers crossed. |
